Teacher’s Award 2013-2014

About the Award


Objectives:

KALD Distinguished Teachers Award will be granted to teachers who exemplify the highest standards in teaching students with Learning Difficulties and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The purpose of this award is to:

  • Provide a lasting service to Kuwaiti society, by creating a new generation of teachers with enthusiasim for their profession.
  • Prepare teachers and develop educational processes in the field of teaching students with learning disabilities.
  • Begin promoting self-assessment and reflection among teachers, to contribute to raising the level of education in private schools.
  • Urge teachers to work on their own professional growth plan in order to enhance professional practices, so as to positively impact student learning.
  • Acknowledge distinguished teachers working with LD/ADHD students in private schools.
  • Motivate and stimulate teachers to excel at their work

Criteria:

The Award Committee will select the Distinguished Teachers based on international criteria used in the educational field, as well as international and national awards standards. The standards include, but are not limited to:

  • Inner and outer recognition for excellence and innovation in teaching students with Learning Difficulties and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as mainly observed by parents and colleagues at work.
  • Commitment to excellence and originality in teaching, as shown by:
  • Excellent performance of daily responsibilities.
  • Development of effective techniques and practices.
  • Attractive and stimulating presentation of lessons.
  • Demonstration of respect for student inquiry and discussion.
  • Effective relationships with students.
  • Continuous efforts to evaluate and improve one’s own teaching.
  • Match the criteria presented in Charlotte Danielson “Framework for Teaching Model”.

Award Prizes:

The first place winner and the school in which he/she works will receive a cash prize of KD 3000 (2000 KD for the teacher and 1000 KD presented to the school in the form of two days training course in LD/ADHD).

The second place winner will receive a cash prize of 1250 KD and another KD 750 presented to the school in the form of one day training course in LD/ADHD.

The third place winner will receive a 750 KD and another and another KD 250 presented to the school in the form of three hours workshop in LD/ADHD.
