The Kuwaiti Association for Learning Differences (KALD) concluded its annual awareness campaign on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with an awareness event titled "You Are Not Alone" at The Avenues Mall from October 22nd to 28th 2024. Specialists were available to answer questions from visitors seeking help understanding this disorder and other related issues.
Local media covered the event attended by officials and nonprofit organizations. Ms. Amal Al-Sayer, founder and chair of KALD, emphasized the association's commitment to host internal and international specialists to provide comprehensive services to the public. Al-Sayer added, "This year, KALD focused on raising awareness among adults, especially that, this disorder often accompanies the child throughout their life. Their struggles in education, work, or social relationships may stem from not knowing they have the disorder. With proper diagnosis and early intervention, they can lead a happy and fruitful life”.
The event provided screening services for indicators of the disorder in both children and adults. Visitors were also introduced to the association’s work, particularly the Integrated Educational Services Program (academic, psychological, and social) for students, as well as guidance for parents on schools that best meet their children's needs.
Around 70 volunteers played an important role in the success of the event. The event also welcomed visits from American University of Kuwait and Kuwait University students and educators from various schools interested in enhancing their services to support their students.
